Job Description SummaryA Senior Scientist in the Scientific Affairs' Applied Research and Technology team is responsible for developing a wide variety of scientific collateral to support and drive the successful commercialization of the product portfolio. Key to achieving this is the development of novel multi-color flow cytometry applications and scientific content. Included in this is the design of experiments to effectively position the reagent and instrument portfolio in customer facing collateral such as brochures, technical notes, presentations, and web content. With a primary focus on bench science, a senior scientist works closely with different business functions to ensure alignment with the overall commercialization strategy.A Senior Scientist in the Application Immunology group is responsible forJob Responsibilities:Design, perform, analyze, and troubleshoot multi-color flow cytometry experimentsWrite protocols, study reports, and scientific posters/papers for publication by evaluating scientific literature, analyzing scientific data, and staying abreast of current and novel practicesCollaborate with internal partners and external KOLs/collaborators for data/evidence generation to support value messages of productsOral presentations to internal and external audiencesSupport R&D and marketing for product development and launch requirementsFollows the current best practices in flow and panel design, as well as contributing to the development of future best practices.Support complex flow cytometry systems. This may require the development of new methods and procedures that improve instrument performance/reliabilityIdentifies significant scientific trends or new issues of strategic importance and communicates them to in-house resources as appropriateAlways maintain a professional image through behavior, oral and written communicationsStays abreast of the requirements for training compliance and complies with those requirementsPromotes a safe work environment. Participates in Environmental, Health and Safety programs. Addresses corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified.Performs other related duties and assignments as required.Minimum Qualifications:Education and Experience:Requires a Ph.D. in Immunology (or a related life science discipline) with minimum of 5 years' relevant experience. A Master's degree in life sciences with relevant bench experience will also be considered.Minimum of 2 years' experience designing, performing, and analyzing flow cytometry experiments, preferably on BD flow cytometers.Experience in panel design greater than 10 colors highly preferred.Cell sorting experience is desired.Software capabilities: BD FACS Diva, FlowJo,/SeqGeq, and Microsoft Office Suite.Programming experience such as Python and Jupyter notebook highly desired.Effective interpersonal skills for working in a cross-functional team-oriented environment to achieve business goals.Effective written and oral communication skills.Proven record demonstrating ability to follow established policies and procedures including good documentation practice.Effective investigative and problem-solving skills is essential.For many roles at BD, employment is contingent upon the Company's receipt of sufficient proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
