Job Description:
Test Automation Engineer Company: Spectrolab, Inc. Spectrolab,
Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company , seeks a
Test Automation Engineer to join our Precision Engagement Systems
Team based in Sylmar, CA. Spectrolab is the world’s leading
merchant supplier of the highest efficiency multijunction solar
cells for spacecraft power systems, with proven reliability drawn
from 65 years of space heritage. Spectrolab’s state-of-the-art
space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earth’s orbit, as
well as the International Space Station . Since its founding in
1956, Spectrolab has led the way in the development of high
efficiency solar cells for space missions. During the Apollo 11
mission in 1969, a Spectrolab product As a mid-level to senior
level Test Automation Engineer with strong LabVIEW expertise and
broad experience with industry-standard test automation tools, you
design, develop, integrate, and execute automated test systems for
verification, validation, and production test programs in
aerospace, defense, and industrial environments. You combine
hands-on software development and hardware development with test
planning, data analysis, and close collaboration with systems
engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams. Position
Responsibilities: Develop and document standardized test methods
and processes to ensure repeatability and productivity. Support
(level 3) or lead (level 4) development of test systems . Improve
test systems according to lessons learned. Design calibration
system and test fixtures. Build data processing tools and
algorithms. Develop calibration procedures and software. (Level 4)
Guide others in the design of test hardware, test software, and
test systems to achieve test requirements. Support (level 3) or
oversee (level 4) debriefing of the test team. Support (level 3) or
lead (level 4) analysis, processing, and formatting of data to
customer requirements. Confirm test data prior to delivery to
customer. Formulate expectations for test data that are based on
historical data. Ensure calibration system readiness and data
validity. This position must meet Export Control compliance
requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §
120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful
permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications
(Required Skills/Experience): Years of related experience: 3 for
level 3, 5 for level 4. Experience applying or modifying industry
standard test methods. Experience with open and closed loop
feedback control systems (e.g. sequencing, ladder logic, PLC, PID)
including custom software utilization (e.g. LabView , Linux, C++,
Visual Basic), control system theory, test fail safe techniques,
system optimization techniques or compensation techniques. Hardware
integration and software integration experience. Bachelor of
Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including
Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science,
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications
directly related to the work statement. Preferred Qualifications
(Desired Skills/Experience): Troubleshooting experience in
software-hardware integration and electro-mechanical systems.
Experience in LabVIEW , TestStand , Python, C#, C/C++, MATLAB, and
related. Test systems design experience. Software validation
experience. Experience using electronic test equipment, test
instrumentation, or data acquisition hardware such as PXI, DAQmx,
oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, source meters,
megohmmeters, multiplexers, cRio, PID controllers, … Experience
with version control (Git, SVN), continuous integration for test
software, and ticketing systems ( JIRA ). Experience with other
automated test frameworks (e.g., ATLAS, LabWindows/CVI,
TestComplete). Familiarity with real-time systems, FPGA
integration, or embedded RTOS. Experience in aerospace , defense ,
or regulated industries, and knowledge of relevant standards
(DO-178, DO-254, MIL-STD). Experience with environmental test
chambers, vibration testing, shock testing, and thermal cycling.
Typical Education & Experience : Level 3: Education/experience
typically acquired through advanced technical education from an
accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology
(includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science,
engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g.
Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or
an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or
non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is
the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level
4: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced
technical education from an accredited course of study in
engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing
engineering technology), computer science, engineering data
science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and
typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent
combination of technical education and experience or non-US
equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the
preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Drug Free

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well
as market and business considerations. Summary Pay Range: Level 3:
$111,350 - $150,650 Level 4: $135,150 - $182,850 Language
