Job Description:

Due to substantial growth in our business L3Harris has an immediate need for an Optical Engineer. We are seeking an advanced professional with practical knowledge of the photonics area. This key role will provide technical insight for our existing technologies and develop new technologies to capture and lead new programs with our military, government, and commercial customers.

Essential Functions:

• Exercise creative thinking for developing unique solutions to advance our core and new business areas
• Develop hardware, lead design & prototyping efforts and bring products to market
• Author white papers, proposals and make presentations to internal staff, executive management, existing customers and potential new customers
• Be self-directed as an individual contributor, work as a team member in an IPT environment, or lead a small technical team of scientist, engineers and technicians
• Design, simulate, modify, and test optical communications subsystems. Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
  • 7+ years working with analog & digital communications and free-space optics
  • 7+ years of experience with modeling and simulation using Mathcad, Matlab, Zemax, LabView, etc.
  • 7+ years of experience working with communications hardware, fiber optic hardware, and imaging systems Preferred Additional Skills:
    • Experience with product development for government contracts.
    • Exposure to low volume manufacturing facilities & test laboratories In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $120,000.00 - $223.000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
